Surgery update

We're home! Surgery went really well. We arrived at Sacred Heart Children's at 10:30AM. After they looked her over and we spoke with all the Dr's and nurses they gave Addison a little medicine to make her sleepy. We cried as they wheeled her off and 30 minutes later she was all done. Just long enough for Tris and I to sneak over to the cafeteria for lunch. About an hour after she got out of the OR, we were able to go in to see her. She was a bit fussy from the anesthetic but I held and rocked her until it wore off. Shortly after she was sitting up and eating popsicles and goldfish. We left the hospital about 2PM and headed back to Mike and Karlynn's. We weren't sure how she'd do on the ride home and decided to stay close to Spokane just in case she had any problems from surgery. We gave her some Tylenol with coedine to keep her comfortable in the car and expected her to be in and out of sleep for the rest of the day. Ha! She was on the go until bedtime. Up and playing and talking and laughing. You wouldn't even know this kid had surgery. She continues to do well and is proud to show off her "owie." Thanks everyone for keeping us in your thoughts.

Surgery day is approaching

So we're heading off to Spokane in a couple hours. Addison saw her pediatrician this morning and was deemed healthy enough for surgery. I thought for sure after Tristan caught a stomach bug over the weekend that we'd be staying home this weekend. To be honest, I'm a nervous wreck. It's the first big decision I've had to make as a parent and I feel so awful that she has no idea what is in store for her tomorrow. At least she gets popsicles and jell-o for breakfast. What kid wouldn't love that! Surgery is scheduled at 12:00 p.m. tomorrow afternoon and is expected to last 30 minutes. I'm sure that 30 minutes will be the longest 30 minutes of my life. Addi will spend a few hours in recovery and then be released. Depending on how she's doing, we may just head home after surgery. I think she'll be more comfortable at home and she's supposed to be pretty well numbed up. Keep her in your thoughts tomorrow. I'll be sure to update when I can.
